Here's what we've learned about anyone successful going through transition: YOU LOSE YOUR MOJO FAST. It doesn't matter who you are -- successful CEO, CFO....astronaut -- we are all, to a huge degree defined by our current challenge -- and position. When those disappear, the absolute natural tendency is be lost. So, if you're going into transition don't wait. Move quickly to connect with people. Learn new skills. Keep moving forward. Recognize that much of the sorting you will do in terms of direction is easier done while moving, than while 'reflecting'. Sure, take a 2 week vacation. But then get at it. Because in no time, six months will have gone by and you will wish you had started sooner while you still knew what a hero you really are.
